Fraudulent emails or “phishing” are a type of fraud that uses electronic mechanisms to get you to reveal personal information, passwords to your bank accounts and email, and credit cards.

This is a false website whose only purpose is making you divulge personal information so the website operators can steal your identity and accumulate accounts or commit frauds using your name.

Recommendations to avoid being a victim of phishing:

• Use anti-virus software and/or a firewall, and keep them up to date. Some phishing emails contain software that can damage your computer or track your internet activity without your knowledge. Make sure your computer has up to date anti-virus software.
• Avoid providing confidential information in public computers and only make online transactions in safe places.
